Why organic chutneys?
A message from Chris Davis, Maharishi Ayurveda Products General manager:
“Ayurveda is about balancing the doshas, and food plays a big part in this process.
“In our continuing worldwide search for organic foods that help to balance the doshas, I recently came across these chutneys made fresh by a German company, Cosmoveda, in their own factory in Sri Lanka.
“They combine the taste of sun-ripened fruits with the exotic spiciness and sharpness of exquisite spices. Their secret is the combination of ingredients and the fact that each ingredient has been harvested and used when it is perfectly ripe and full of flavour.
“The main fruit or fruit combination supplies the natural sweetness, and the spices add several of the other five ayurvedic tastes.
“Chutneys enrich many Asian meals as sweet-sour-sharp side dishes. In India, chutneys are eaten with almost every meal and are a delicious side dish or dip to Pakoras, curries, rice and salads.
“Several different chutneys can be served, either in small bowls or directly onto the plate.
“In our experience, you won’t find any chutneys on the market that can match the balanced richness of taste of these Cosmoveda products.
“Try a couple with contrasting flavours. I can recommend either of the sweeter Mango or Papaya chutneys, or the cooling Coconut-Lime chutney or the sharper Ginger-Lime blend.
“There is also a Pineapple and a Tropical Fruit mix, which I’m looking forward to trying.
“Between them these chutneys include many fresh spices, all harvested from controlled organic cultivation: star anise, cinnamon, chilli, cardamom, bay leaf, cloves, ginger, as well as special Ayurveda rock salt (far superior to the industrial salt you find in supermarkets).
“Mixed in precisely the right combinations and proportions, these spice flavours provide an additional balancing effect to your meal.
“Delicious and satisfying, enjoy.”
