Maharishi Ayurveda Shudh Shilajit is an extraordinary fusion of nature’s power and the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda, crafted following an authentic formulation.
Origin: Shilajit emerges naturally from the rocks of the lower Himalayas, the Vindhya, and other mountain regions of Nepal during hot weather, where iron deposits are abundant. It seeps from fissures in the rocks or forms as a tar-like substance through the decomposition of plant material in the earth.
Shilajit is a bituminous substance composed of a compact mass of organic plant matter. It possesses a dark reddish, sticky, and oily texture, interwoven with plant fibres, sand, and earthy particles. It has a distinctly bitter taste, with the black variety being the most commonly used after undergoing extensive purification processes.
The Sanskrit word “Shilajit” translates to “Conqueror of Mountains and Destroyer of Weakness.”
The renowned Ayurvedic physician Charaka, author of the “Charaka Samhita,” extolled Shilajit, ascribing to it the power to make the body as strong as stone and claiming that there is no disease which Shilajit cannot heal.
For centuries, Shilajit has been traditionally used in India for a variety of purposes.
Shilajit contains over 85 natural ionic minerals, as well as fulvic acid*, humic acid, and valuable phytonutrients.
*Fulvic acid helps to open cell membranes, allowing minerals to be transported deep into the cells. Without the effective absorption of vitamins and minerals, the body’s tissues can suffer from deficiencies, impacting both physical and mental energy.
Shilajit is composed of 60-80% organic matter, 20-40% mineral content, and around 5% trace elements.
