What Ayurveda says

Curcuma or Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) is a native plant of Southeast Asia and India. The ancient Ayurveda texts (3000 years old) consider it to be sacred due to its multiple benefits. The active substance of turmeric called curcuminoids (diferuloylmethane)possesses multiple supporting properties for our wellbeing.

According to Ayurveda, Turmeric balances the Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas. It has many beneficial effects for rasa and rakta dhatus (the blood and plasma of the circulatory system).

Curcuma also balances the Agni (digestive fire) and reduces ama (toxins)* in the body.

As per Ayurveda accumulation of Ama* in the joints can cause pain and inflammation.
